Artist Bio:

Marianne is a second-generation Filipina American born and raised in southern California who grew up in a family of visual artists. Heavily influenced by the painting skills of her father and the intricate craftsmanship of her mother in addition to the illustrative styles of her older siblings, it was no surprise that creativity naturally became part of Marianne’s upbringing. Though primarily known for her photography, it is important for Marianne to expand her artistic abilities into various fields of visual art because there is not only one form that she finds creatively fulfilling. In her works of studio art and photography, it is evident that much of her inspiration is drawn from organic movement juxtaposed by angular and straight linear movements, as well as shape formation. The interaction between shapes and lines can create a diverse and intriguing visual conversation that Marianne finds to be both dramatic and soothing. Furthermore, she enhances the visual dialogue of some of her art through the intensity of details and the high contrast between highlights and shadows. Having the ability to translate and combine her artistic ideas in various mediums and forms is what drives Marianne’s creative passion as a visual artist. “Overall, I like to think all my works of art can individually and collectively carry different conversations while sharing the same dialogue” - Marianne Andres
